Rivers know this: There is no hurry. We shall get there some day, because only when we give joyfully, without hesitation or thought of gain, can we truly know what love means.

The affairs of life embrace a multitude of interests, and those of us who reason in any one of them, without consulting the rest, are prophets unsuited to control the business of the world. To consult the rules of composition before making a picture is a little like consulting the law of gravitation before going for a walk. Such rules and laws are deduced from the accomplished fact; they are the products of reflection. It’s like if G_d gives you a watch, are you honouring Him more by asking Him what time it is or by simply consulting the watch?

And so, for all those of you mistaken souls lost in the big wide and stressful world of consulting: A career in consulting is wonderful, but you can't curl up with it on a cold winter’s night.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other, but that If you don’t know to which port you are sailing, no wind is favourable. Equally before beginning a hunt, it is wise to ask someone what you are looking for before you begin looking for it.

And so, to quote W.B. Yeats, who just happens to be my favourite Irish poet: “I have spread my dreams beneath your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”
